CB Community Garden Update

Colonial Beach Greenspace is proud to announce that our organization will be the new custodian for Colonial Beach Community Garden at Washington Park! Many thanks to the founders, contributors, and volunteers at Museum of Colonial Beach and the Colonial Beach Community Foundation for creating this gem in our community.

Plots will be available at no charge in 2022, with preference given to volunteers. We ask that. you keep your plot neat and weed regularly. CB Greenspace volunteers till and prepare the plots, water and cut the grass throughout the season, and remove waste vegetation for offsite composting.

We are currently accepting donations of:

  • gently used garden tools and gloves

  • rain barrels

  • drip irrigation hose

  • bags of shredded hardwood mulch

  • monetary donations for operating expenses and improvements

Here are some improvements we’re considering and seeking volunteers to contribute time and expertise:

  • covering and mulching between beds to reduce grass cutting

  • adding 3-4 watering barrels feeding drip irrigation to beds in order to remove need. for daily watering in summer

  • painted rock garden facing Washington Ave
