Community Garden Fall Update
As the 2024 summer gardening season comes to an end, Greenspace is proud of this year’s work that made the Community Garden a wonderful place to visit. Residents and visitors alike strolled through the garden, often using the beautiful sunflowers and milkweed – with their bees, monarchs and swallowtails – as a background for pictures that captured their special time at the Beach.
Thank you to our gardeners: Jeanette and Wayne, Blake and Barbara, Julie and Bill, Kathy and Bob, Darlene, Sarah, Melinda, Caryn, Joe, Tommy, Tony, Allison, Debbie, Ben and Austin. From some who are “old hands” to those growing for the first time, this year’s garden produced tomatoes, peppers, squash, carrots, cucumbers, sweet potatoes, Swiss chard, broccoli, peas, beans, strawberries, lettuce, dill, parsley, oregano, basil, fennel, sage, lemon grass, thyme, onions, eucalyptus, marigolds, sunflowers, zinnia’s, four o’clocks, blue cornflower, hollyhocks and milkweed.
Greenspace is busy planning the garden for 2025 along with other public green space preservation efforts. We hope you will “Drop in again” to check out what else Greenspace is bringing to Colonial Beach in the new year!
